The audiology clinic is located within the administration block at Kelston Deaf Education Centre. The service is available to students attending Kelston Deaf Education Centre. We monitor student's hearing, their hearing aids and fit new hearing aids as required. We also assess the student's needs in the classroom in conjunction with the teachers to determine FM candidacy and fit these as appropriate. We do not have the facilities to provide a service for cochlear implant management. Students with cochlear implants are seen through the Northern Cochlear Implant Programme.
An Ear nurse service is not provided in the audiology clinic, however a mobile ear nurse clinic is planning to visit KDEC once a term for 2009. The first visit will be on Thursday 26th March. This service will be available to KDEC students that are accompanied by a parent. For more information on ear nurse clinics in your community, please see link provided.
