Kelston Deaf Education Centre in partnership with the Advisers on Deaf Children (MoE Special Education) encourage all educational professionals working with students who have a hearing loss to register for the following courses in 2010:
General Course for Teachers of Students with Hearing Loss
This course is designed to give you an understanding of basic audiology, support services for Deaf and hearing impaired students, communication and classroom management, hearing aids and an awareness of challenges to a Deaf student's language development.
Listening, Language and Literacy for Students with Hearing Loss (Years 1 - 8)
This course is designed for professionals in the mainstream working with hearing impaired students in Years 1-8. It will give you an understanding of how hearing impaired students learn to listen and develop language and literacy. It will provide you with practical ideas for the classroom and discuss the process of curriculum access and adaptation (also beneficial to teachers of ESOL students).
